This is the second "Notre Dame" in the 453rd BG. The original NOTRE DAME
(41-29257) was salvaged at AAF 365, Halesworth, after landing there
30 May 44 with one engine burned out and severe operational damage on a mission to Oldenburg airfield.
Sometime after 11 Apr 45, SPIRIT OF NOTRE DAME was transferred to 448th BG / 715th BS (IO V) and re-deployed to the U S, arriving
22 Oct 45 at Altus, Oklahoma, where it was disposed of to the Reconstruction Finance Corporation.
