The film "Winged Victory" (1944 Twentieth Century Fox) was directed by George Cukor, starring Lee J. Cobb (Doctor), Jeanne Crain (Helen), and Judy Holliday (Ruth Miller). The story is about six cadets during basic training, perilous bombing missions, and the wives who waited for them.
