On loan to 93rd BG and scheduled to be
flown by 1/Lt. Howard W. Freese on the 1 Aug 43 Ploesti mission. He was obliged
to turn back, jettison the bombs in the sea and return to Benghazi, Libya, due
to a serious fuel leak discovered immediately after take-off.
