Lost 11 Dec 44, AUT - MACR 11803 - Pilot Don G. Garrett
Contributor - Herb Harper
Damaged over the target of Moosebierbaum and went out of
control 11 Dec 44. The Pilot, Lt Garrett, was killed. The Co-Pilot,
Lt. Cleveland, recovered the aircraft and gave the crew orders to "prepare" to
bail out. Apparently, Sgt King misunderstood and bailed out over the target. Lt
Cleveland was able to get the aircraft back to Italy near Foggia where the crew
bailed out and the aircraft crashed into a field.
