One of the original aircraft in 8 489 846 as 8R +H.
It appears in the 492nd BG inventory for the first time on 6 Feb 45 as a B-24H (NITE) and in the Operations Log for the first time on the 20/21 Feb 45 night bombing operation. It is shown as a B-24H NB in Part II of the 6 Mar 45 inventory, indicating that it was on DS somewhere. Finally, it is shown as a B-24H SH NB on the 6 Apr 45 inventory, the SH indicating that it had H2X blind bombing radar installed. In fact, its H2X equipment had been removed from B-24H SH NB- 15 DT 41-28792, also in 492nd BG (after previous assignments to 482nd and 389th BGs) and which was salvaged on 8 Mar 45 being corroded and beyond repair. 42-94816 was probably at a BAD at the time of the 6 Mar 45 inventory having the H2X equipment installed . This would explain the entry in Part II of the inventory.
It was not an aircraft with Carpetbagger modifications which would have resulted in it becoming a B-24HSA. It remained a bomber but was painted black for night operations.
