Price (Co-Pilot/Pilot)
We had a crew meeting at Langley field, to decide the name of our new plane. It was decided to name her SUNSETTER because our job, as we saw it, was to "set the Rising Sun" of the Japanese. The original Art was just the word SUNSETTER in an arc that ran from the Co-Pilot area, down towards the bottom of the nose. It was a very professional job that we all "chipped in" and paid for. The colors included red, green, black, and a slim silver line. There was no
picture! During a trip our crew took to Australia, someone painted over our lettering and painted the picture and lettering that is shown. The entire crew was livid when we saw what had been done. By putting "That Babe" on there, they had changed the whole meaning of the name
SUNSETTER!! That is the reason for the obvious "painted out" area on the side of the plane in the area of the nose art.
