READY WILLING AND ABLE blew a tire on take off (date?)
but managed to get airborne.The bombs were salvoed and after the crew
bailed out, was shot down by Allied fighters. According to Wiley O. Woods' book
Legacy of the 90th Bombardment Group: 'the Jolly Rogers', this was the plane that the Robeck crew flew to the
Pacific. READY WILLING AND ABLE appears twice in the loss
listings and is one of the few errors in this publication. The listing for the loss of the Drewelow crew should reference
42-41135 (name undetermined) as confirmed by MACR 3307 on the Drewe low crew. The diary of one of the Robeck crew members
confirms that they used READY WILLING AND ABLE on several occasions
after the loss of 42-41135.
