A replacement ship flown overseas from Mitchell
Field, by H. L. Allen and crew, in January, 1944. Salvaged after
making an emergency landing (with Haywood's crew aboard) on a
field in Corsica, while returning from the mission of 5 Jul 44, against Toulon, France.
Suffered severe nose damage (in
the emergency landing) with one crewman KIA and one severely
injured.
