My Grandfather, Lt. George H. McConnell (Navigator), was stationed in Naples, Italy (1944-45) and flew 35 missions.

Left the USA on 3 Sep 44, and was assigned to the group on 9 Sep 44. Listed MIA
after Mission #176 to Udine, Italy, 29 Dec 44. Took a direct flak hit near the
target and exploded. Eight of the crew, under the command of Martin Uhl, were
killed.
