The early 90th BG bases were pretty rough, and when the
aircraft were being backed into their revetments, there were many tail strikes,
driving the tail bumpers into the fuselage - continual damage. A local mod was
devised which used spare RAAF Lockheed Hudson tail wheels, until HAD produced a
mod used throughout the Pacific until the end of the war.
