Served in the South West Pacific area (including Northern Territory,
Australia).
This aircraft flew 65 missions before being destroyed in a spectacular crash
landing at Murtha Field 22 Jun 45. It originally came to the
Squadron from Townsville, Qld., Australia in May 1944. The new name was painted by Sgt
George J Pavlik on the plane's starboard side with the Squadron Emblem (Bugs Bunny
riding a descending bomb) being painted on the port side.
The tail markings were the quadrant containing the abbreviated serial 9995 but
without an outline to the vertical stabilizer.
The 1/48th scale model is slightly wrong showing the aircraft with an Emerson
front turret. To be accurate it should have instead the hydraulically
powered tail turret (an A6B) set in the nose.
