Port (Left) Side - Renamed to DOC - Survived Operation TIDAL WAVE, 1 Aug 43, Ploesti Romania
Info Contributor - Bill
Whitney
This aircraft originally carried the name NORTHERN STAR on both sides
of the nose. In the spring of 1943, the name DOC replaced the port (left) side NORTHERN STAR
to comply with a "Snow White Squadron" directive. NORTHERN STAR/DOC was a participant in the low level Ploesti mission of 1 Aug
43, flown
by the Glen Underwood crew. The ship was operational until 30 Nov 43.
