Caption reads: "Col. Laurence B. Kelley of Grover, Missouri, Commanding Officer
of the 494th Bomb Group, stands beside the wreckage of his
Consolidated B-24 Liberator. On 10 Apr 45, Col. Kelley led
his group into combat against enemy forces in the Philippine
Islands. While over the target, the landing gear section was
hit by Japanese "Ack Ack". Col. Kelley was forced
to make a belly landing on return to base at Anguar Island,
Caroline Islands."
