Named and ferried from the United States to Britain by Pilot Alfred M. L.
Sanders, but he never flew 42-52731 in combat. He was an alumnus of Louisiana
State University (LSU), where Mike, the Bengal Tiger, was the mascot.
Note: The last A/C Pilot Sanders flew (42-52764) may have also had the head of a
roaring Bengal tiger, with the legend "Mike, Spirit of LSU", painted under the
cockpit window.
