Robert "Jake" Jacobson (Bombardier -
standing far left in Sep 42) at Alconbury Air Base, England. Bob was bumped from
the return flight to the States by Gen. Andrews (Andrews AFB is named after him)
and his staff. HOT STUFF crashed into a mountain on
approach to Reykjavik, Iceland 3 May 43. The only survivor was the Tail Gunner,
Sgt. George Eisel.
Pilot Robert Shannon (standing far right), Navigator James Gott, and Gen. Andrews (along with his
staff) were among those who were killed.
