Original deployment aircraft of the 380th BG and assigned to the 531st
Squadron with the Crew of Captain Dave Brennan and named by that crew. Flew 33
missions prior to 13 Dec 43 and was declared "War Weary" (WW) on that
date because we had, in the previous month, received a large number of new
planes and did not have the ground staff or crews to use our now large
complement. Our crew ( Magee, Crew 91 - 531st) arrived 6 Dec 43. Our first task
in the 380th was to fly DELIVERER along with several other "old"
aircraft to Townsville as "WW" on 13 Dec 43. There they were
inspected, and those truly "WW" were scrapped. The others received the
nose turret modification and were distributed back to the Groups or transferred
to the Australians. We actually got several of our own ships back, such as
PRINCE VALIANT (42-40526), which became PUG (II). DELIVERER went to the Australians as A72-6.
