Can't resist telling you why the name Cielito Lindo means
something to me. While waiting to be called to active duty between my
enlistment 9 Dec 42 - 5 Apr 43, I worked as a projectionist in a small
local theater. New films came in on Friday nights and had to be inspected
for broken splices on Saturday mornings. The theater would be empty so I
would open the booth windows wide and turn the sound system up to the max
and play my favorite records on the turntable. Most frequently played was
Artie Shaw's version of Cielito Lindo which I still have today.
