JAMES J. RYAN |
Contributor - John B. Ryan
Shown with Lt Williams (Navigator). This was the first "ALL MEAT NO POTATOES".
This plane only flew one or two missions and my Father, James J. Ryan (Co-Pilot), said it was not a good plane. They
asked for, and received, another one which they named "ALL MEAT-NO POTATOES"
(42-78318).
Research Team Comments: Contributor's father, who was Co-Pilot on this crew, felt that this Ford manufactured B-24H (assembled at the Douglas Tulsa plant) had poor flight characteristics and welcomed the newer, natural metal, NAA B-24G series replacement aircraft (see "ALL MEAT-NO POTATOES"). The extra window in the nose was a common modification in the MTO, but is not indicative of any one B-24 series or manufacturer.
