The date in the caption cannot be right. Group
markings changed at the end of May 44 from C in a circle (disk) to the high
visibility black tail with a broad white vertical stripe in the middle.
Moreover, on 9 Apr 44 42-99982 crashed near Bintree in Norfolk after a mid-air
collision with a B-24 from 392nd BG (41-29485) and was salvaged.
