Port (Left) Side - AKA "YELLOW NOSED MONSTER" (After Transfer to 756th BS)
Contributor -
Glenn M. Strong Jr.
It was a Mickey ship in the 757th BS
prior to transfer to the 756th BS and becoming a courier. It had been the lead ship on the 23 April Bad Vaslau mission for which the unit earned it's citation. Capt Bruce Smith points
to flak damage from the June 13 mission that ended "802"'s combat days. It took
a direct hit and tore up the nose. Fortunately, when the smoke cleared, they
were still flying and nobody was killed, as the shell was a dud.
