Shown with the William G. Dixon crew. This was their command ship, supported by
mission records, the only plane they flew between 23 Jun 44 and 13 Aug 44. No
known nose art. On 25 Aug 44 the plane was loaned to the Davis crew for an
initial raid on Palau and suffered an in-flight collision with 44-40542 coming
off bomb run both aircraft crashing in deep water. Dixon crew then flew ship
44-40603 on 28 Aug 44 and were shot down over Koror, Palau, all KIA.
