Originally 8 493 860 (C). Received at North Pickenham only a few days before the crash-landing. Crashed & burned 18 Sep 44
at Swingfield Minnis, about 4 miles N of Folkestone, Kent, returning from supply
drop to Allied airborne forces in the Netherlands. Right main landing gear torn
out. Was probably attempting an emergency landing at nearby RAF Hawkinge whence
the 3 SAD Field Engineering salvage team operated.
