Arrived 19 May 44 and flew one mission on 30 May 44. The landing gear drag link
failed due to a faulty casting. Class 4 damage to wing, fuselage, empennage and
ball turret. #1 prop broke off and damaged flap, aileron and empennage. William
Nold was Gordon Powers' Co-Pilot and was receiving check flight with Powers and
ops officer Rierson aboard.
