The crew shown completed 32 missions with the 44th BG / 506th
BS. Hertzberg only flew the crew's first five missions, and was then replaced.
The photo was taken during the Mendenhall's crew training. For the most part,
this crew stuck together for their entire tour. Flew the majority of their
missions in two ships: MY PEACH (42-100415) and MY GAL SAL (42-50626).
